The Centre for Sport and Exercise Science will
be following the plan of action detailed below which would enable the solid
claims about the product to be made based on controlled laboratory testing. "By using the 8 camera 3D Motion Analysis system, force plates and EMG in our lab we are able to accurately measure the position of the body in space and the forces experienced during walking. This way we can compare gait when wearing high and low MBT shoes to 'normal' gait. Results would highlight any differences in flexion, extension, adduction, abduction and rotation of extremities; tilt, rotation, lateral flexion, abduction, adduction, and obliquity data for the upper and lower boyd, including the trunk and pelvis; Joint moments and powers and temporal data such as velocity, cadence, stride time and body support times. In addition to this, EMG data can be recorded for some of the superficial core muscles that MBT's claim to activate over normal gait." |
